Minister of Foreign Affairs Lakshman Kadirgarmar in a Meeting last Thursday, with Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Peter Hain requested them to ban LTTE front organisations carrying out operations on British soil. The formal request was made for the proscription of the LTTE under the new anti-terrorism bill, which UK passed recently. The Terrorism Bill of the United Kingdom introduced in the House of Lords was recently passed in all the stages in the House of Commons. This Bill provides a comprehensive legal framework within the United Kingdom to deal with foreign terrorist group activities within British soil. Foreign Ministry news releases stated the State Minister Hain agreed to consider all matters pertaining to the request made by Minister Kadirgarmar and to maintain a continuous dialogue with Sri Lankan authorities. The Sri Lankan Foreign Minister was accompanied by the SL High Commissioner to Britain Mangala Moonesinghe, Dr. Rohan Perera, Legal Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
