The People’s Alliance (PA) together with the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) have decided to consult the Maha Sangha and other relevant independent organisations before passing any act which would affect the people, sources said. Speaking at the MEP District Conference, Party Leader, Dinesh Gunawardena said, the MEP had agreed with the PA on many instances in which both parties had often opposed some of the acts brought forward by the UNP which would have had an adverse impact on the people of the country. He said the people must take this opportunity to vote at the parliamentary elections to protect democracy, adding that this would be a decisive election for the people of the country.
