Closing date for nominations reaches zero hours

At twelve noon today, the nominations for the Parliamentary General Elections, scheduled for October 10^th , comes to a close. 

Among the registered political parties, the PA has already completed the signing of nominations for all districts.

The UNP, according to it’ s Media Spokesman Dr. Karunasena Kodithuwakku, has filed nominations for all districts except for Batticaloa.

The nominations filed by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) include all districts except Colombo.

The Sihala Urumaya (SU) will be contesting in 20 districts.

The National People’s Party (NPP) has President’s Council Mr. A.S.M Perera contesting for the Colombo district.

Meanwhile, eleven Political Parties and five Independent Groups have handed in nominations for the Wanni district.

All the registered political parties contesting the Jaffna district have also completed handing in their nominations.
