Around 20,000 applications from displaced voters are being processed by the Elections Commissioner’s Department. These displaced voters are seeking approval to vote at the forthcoming General Election. The process of selecting eligible applicants is not over yet. Once finished the applicants will be informed individually, a department spokesman said. Former North East Chief Minister Vardharaja Perumal who is currently leading an independent group said he has suggested to the Commissioner that separate ballot boxes be kept in every polling booth for these displaced voters.
