New politcal party Sihala Urumaya is to launch its first ever polls campaign from the sacred city of Kandy today. According to party spokesman over 5,000 are hoped to take part in the inaugural meeting, which is due to start at 4 pm at the George E. De Silva grounds. The spokesman further said that a convoy of vehicles would leave Kalutara at 9 am to participate in the event. He said that the participants from Southern Province and Kalutara District would join the Colombo district participants at the Viharamahadevi park at 11 am where a brief religious ceremony will be held at the foot of the Buddha statue. "The convoy will also participate at two reception ceremonies at Yakkala and Kegalle," the spokesman added.
