The Election Secretariat announced yesterday of their stand, to refer nomination lists with the suspected forged signatures to CID for further investigation and necessary action. Due to the received complaints, regarding the nomination lists with forged signatures submitted by certain political parties and independent groups in some districts, the Department has taken this action, the Assistant Elections Commissioner K. Senanayake said. The Department also announced that they have finalised assigning preference numbers to total candidates in 22 districts, and a Gazette notification will be released shortly containing this matter.
