While investigations into the Aranayake helicopter crash are proceeding, detectives are now trying to ascertain the identity of a Tamil youth who was allegedly in the chopper with Minister M.H.M.Ashraff, local newspapers reported. The suspected youth was supposed to be a supporter of Digamadulla PA candidate Kadirgamar Thambi who was also killed in the crash. According to police sources, only 13 bodies have been recovered although 14 passengers were reported to have flown in the helicopter. “The missing body is believed to be that of the youth. His body would have been completely destroyed in the crash,” a senior investigator said. The suspect had arrived at the Minister’s official residence with Kadirgamar Thambi. He had with him a bag, but was not body checked, the Minister’s security personnel said.
