Airforce ground attacks aircraft destroyed three LTTE boats and three Land Rovers at Sangupiddy in the Wanni mainland yesterday afternoon adding to the long list of severe losses borne by the LTTE in the face of the recent massive assaults by the security forces. Armed forces spokesman Brigadier Karunaratne said that aircraft, which were on some other targets, were ordered to engage the boats and the vehicles. All boats and vehicles were destroyed, he said. However, the LTTE usually quick in denying claims by security forces has so far maintained a low profile when reporting about the latest fighting in the north. The recapturing of Chavakachcheri by the army inflicted severe damages on the LTTE terrorists causing a massive blow for the major plan attacks that were planned by the Tigers on the security forces in the north east.
