SLMC supporters demonstrated in front t of the Kalmunai Jumma Mosque yesterday after prayers demanding with slogans to give the Muslim Party's leadership should to a person from the east. The same situation has occurred in front of many Mosques yesterday after the prayers in the eastern province. The demonstrators urged that if the leadership was not granted by today they would launch a fast unto death. They were also with the opinion that the M H M Ashraff portfolio should be given to a person from the east. The demonstrators showed great opposition towards Rauf Hakeem's appointment. The NUA Vice President M L A M Hisbullah said that people are in the opinion that he should be given Minister Ashraff's portfolio as he had been in the parliament for 12 years, although this is the case, he said that he is backing Mr. Hakeem.
