LTTE fleeing East to conscript schoolgirls, says escaped Tamil girl
[25 September 2000]

Prabhakaran's version of Sri Lanka's history.

One of the schoolgirls who had been abducted by the LTTE had escaped from the LTTE camp and surrendered to the army at Batticaloa thirteen days after her abduction, stating that the LTTE is taking other schoolchildren to their jungle camps off Kokkadicholai, revealed Army media spokesman Brigadier Sanath Karunaratne.

The LTTE had abducted ten schoolgirls from Kokkadicholai while they were returning home after a tuition class on September 14. One of the girls, Visvalingam Vijayalakshmi (15) had escaped from the clutches of the LTTE terrorists stating that the LTTE is taking other schoolchildren to their jungle camps off Kokkadicholai.

The LTTE terrorists are fleeing from the advancing troops at Chavakachcheri, towards the Eastern Province in a bid to fill their deflated ranks.

Vijayalakshmi, is a grade 10 school girl from Manaikadi close to Kokkadicholai, and the other nine girls who are still being held by the LTTE, are also from the same locality, Brigadier Karunaratne said.
