Susanthika confident of repeating silver winning performance

Sri Lanka’s Susanthika Jayasinghe is showing signs of coming back to her best after her two sizzling heat winnings of the 200 sprint for women at the Sydney Olympics to enter the semi-finals to be held today.

In the second round Jayasinghe clinched the fourth heat with a time of 22.54 winning by a huge margin despite relaxing in the final phase of the race after grabbing a clear lead very early.

Overall, Jayasinghe’s time was the fourth fastest in entering semi-finals behind Jamaican, Beverly McDonald (22.44), Australian, Melinda Gainsford Taylor (22.49) and favourite Marion Jones (22.50) of the United States.

The semi final will be run today at Sri Lankan time 1.00 pm while the finals will also be run today a little later.
