The deadline for all major political parties to hold their final rallies is Saturday, the Elections Commissioner said. The People’s Alliance will hold its final rally at Horana with Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake and PA Kalutara district candidate addressing the meeting. Meanwhile, the United National Party (UNP) will hold its final rally at Maradana at 3 pm with Party Leader, Ranil Wickremasinghe and Colombo District candidates participating in the rally. The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna final rally will be held at the Mount Lavinia junction at 3 pm. JVP General Secretary, Tilvin Silva, Propaganda Secretary, Wimal Weerawansa and politburo members would address the rally. The final rally of the Sihala Urumaya will start at 3 pm at De Mel Park in Colombo 2, sources said. Party Chairman S L Gunasekera, General secretary, Thilak Karunaratne, and National Organiser, Champika Ranawake will address the rally.
