An Australian television service, The Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) in its programme called “Dateline” revealed the arms deals and the fund raising activities of the LTTE agents in Australia for the first time in Australian media. The “Dateline” investigate team revealed many LTTE activities including the LTTE agents shipping arms from Australia to Sri Lanka, purchase of hand gliders for the LTTE air operations from an Australian firm, the sophisticated network that funnels 4 million dollars monthly to LTTE activities and so on. The SBS also commented on Prof. Eliezer, “an emotional admirer and sympathiser” of the Tamil Tiger terrorists being awarded the Order of Australia. Some Sri Lankan organisations had earlier pointed out this to the government and questioned as to why an agent allied to terrorism should be awarded an Australian honour.
