Security
forces repulsed a heavy LTTE attack on Nagarkovil defence line to enter
the Vadamarachchi area, destroying a long range artillery gun and a
communications centre of the LTTE. According
to a press release from the Special Media Information Centre yesterday,
over 100 LTTE cadres participated in the attack, well supported by
Artillery, Mortars, Recoilless Rifles and Machine Guns. The
Vadamarachchi area consists a population of around 100,000. The
Sri Lanka Air Force supported from air to help ground troops to neutralize
terrorist gun positions. In
this attempt, the Fighter Aircraft destroyed a terrorist long range gun
and a communication centre in Pooneryn.
