Reports from India expose a connection between Indian forest brigand Veerapan with Velupillai Prbakaran, the LTTE Supremo. The first evident of such a link came to light when Veerappan demanded to set free the cadres of the Tamil National Liberation Army (TNLA) held in captive, in order to release veteran film star Rajkumar who is being held captive by him. It is confirmed that TNLA has links with the LTTE. Further evidence topped at the fifth sate conference of the “Tamilzhar Desiya Iyakkam (TDI) held in Madurai 01 October. The conference passed a resolution seeking to lift the ban on the LTTE and demanding the recognition of the LTTE as a liberation organisation on par with the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO). Meanwhile, the Karnataka Government decided to release 51 of Veerappan associates from Mysoer jail, acceding to a demand of the bandit.
