Sri Lanka ready for a free and fair election

All necessary measures have been taken to hold a free and fair election 0n 10 October, revealed the Commissioner of Election.  

The eleventh parliament will consist of 196 Members. And there will be 9,946 polling centres in the country, which will function from 7 a.m to 4 p.m according to the Elections Commissioner, Dayananda Dissanayake. The number of registered candidates for the forthcoming polls is 12,071,062.

The sources report that tight security is provided to all polling and counting centres.

The results of the eleventh parliamentary election would be televised and broadcasted through both government and private media.

Furthermore 150 foreign election monitors scores of local observers and members of the clergy will observe the forthcoming election to ensure a free and fair election.
