The Election Commissioner Dayanaada Dissanayake in a statement said last night that so far serious incidents have been reported from four districts regarding rigging and that counting maybe delayed in those areas. President Kumaratunga also said in a statement that she would support any decision of the Elections Commissioner with regard to the incidents of rigging in the Kandy district. Meanwhile, SLMC leader Rauf Hakeem and PA General Secretary D.M. Jayaratne have complained to the Elections Commissioner and the President about serious violations of election laws and rigging in the Kandy District and the unleashing of violence against their supporters, reportedly by supporters of General Anuruddha Ratwatte.
