European Union observers highlight LTTE violence

The European Union election observers’ reports highlight LTTE bomb attacks on the ruling People Alliance rallies as the most serious form of violence, which occurred during the Parliamentary Elections.

Furthermore in their Interim Assessment released on Tuesday, the suicide bomb attacks in Muttur and Madawachchiya were given special significance.

However EU observers made a special reference to the conduct of the Commissioner of Election. The sources revealed that he did the best possible to conduct a free and fair election within the legal framework available to him.

Further the report stated that all parties violated election rules and regulations by carrying out campaign activities of various types even after the deadline on October 7.
