Indian Vice President Shri Krishan Kant praised Sri Lanka's vision of social unity. Further, he focused his special attention on the scenario played by President of Sri Lanka, Chandrika Kumaratunga to bring about an everlasting solution for the ethnic crisis, sources reported. These comments were made immediately after the funeral of late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike. In the talks with President Kumaratunga, Indian Vice President recalled the traditional ties between the two countries and the remarkable contribution of the two late Prime Ministers, S.W.R.D Bandaranayake and Sirimavo Bandaranaike,to strengthen the goodwill between the two nations. Furthermore, the Vice President stated the fact that his visit at the time of late Sirimavo Bandaranaike’s funeral is a replica of the friendly relations and the strong bond which go beyond a normal diplomatic relationship.
