Cabinet of the second Peoples Alliance government comprising nearly 35 to 40 ministers expected to be sworn in on Wednesday, government sources revealed. President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge and key persons are scheduled to meet later today to decide finally on the allocation of ministries among the constituents parties of the Peoples Alliance. Meanwhile the five political parties in the eleventh parliament are to submit their National List nominees to the Election Commissioner today. The 29 national list seats will be appointed between the PA (13), UNP (12), JVP (2), NUA (1), and Sihala Urumaya (1). The PA was expecting nominations from its constituent parties to finalise the list last night. It was to be finalised by this evening said Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Alavi Mowlana. When contacted by a local newspaper, Gamini Athukorala General Secretary of the UNP said that the party was in no hurry to finalise the list. The National list of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna has already been sent to Commissioner of Elections, party sources revealed. The eleventh Parliament of Sri Lanka is scheduled to meet on Wednesday morning.
