First sitting of the new parliament today

The First sitting of the fourth parliament will be held today (October 18) at 2.30 p.m. Previously it was scheduled to be held at1.00 p.m. however the Secretary General of parliament yesterday informed all Members of Parliament about the new schedule.

Meanwhile sources reported that the ruling People’s Alliance is supposed to include a few new faces in the list of cabinet ministers in addition to the list of present ministers.

According to sources, Dinesh Gunawardane, Rauf Hakeem, Fariel Ashraff, Professor Lesley Gunewardane, Susil Premjayant, Douglas Devananda will be among them.

The swearing in ceremony of the new cabinet ministers will take place on 21^st October.

In the recently concluded 11^th Parliamentary Elections the ruling party PA was able to secure 107 seats and the main opposition secured 89 seats in the 225 member assembly.
