S L Gunasekera, the President of Sihala Urumaya who quit the party recently over a dispute over who should represent the party in their national list seat, vowed to set up a new organisation, sources said. Gunasekera says that he will embark on the new phase after laying off politics for about a month. “ Every member of the Central Committee who attacked me and those who were behind the treachery should resign,” he said, referring to the reported attempts by the Party to woo him and other Central Committee members back. Meanwhile, Sihala Urumaya General Secretary, Tilak Karunaratne yesterday expressed regret over the resignation of Gunasekera. He held him in the highest esteem and his credentials were impeccable. Gunasekera resigned on Sunday after his nomination as the national list MP was blocked.
