Speaker, Deputy Speaker appointed today
 [18 October 2000]

UNP’s Anura Bandaranaike was nominated as the new Speaker in the eleventh Parliament by Prime Minister, Ratnasiri Wickremanayake while Ranil Wickremasinghe seconded him, today.

Major General Sarath Munasinghe was appointed Deputy Speaker. He was nominated by Richard Pathirana and seconded by UNP’s Upali Piyasoma.

The Deputy Chairman Committees is Kegalle District PA MP Lalith Dissanayake, sources revealed.
