European Trade Fair 2000, the first of its kind in South Asia was held yesterday at the BMICH. The chief guest, Minister Ronnie de Mel addressing the opening ceremony said that today the country is prospering and was able to hold such exhibitions where the people could view the latest technology. The European Union has today embarked on a process of economic and monetary unification which has given the zone a stronger sense of integration than ever before, said Ambassador, Delegation of the European Commission, Ikka Uusitalo. British High Commissioner, Linda Duffield welcomed the exhibitors and visitors to the European Trade Fair. The European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the British High Commission, Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany, Embassy of Sweden, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Italian Embassy and the Embassy of France organised the Trade Fair.
