Foreign Minister to visit Japan

Lakshman Kadirgamar, Sri Lanka's foreign affairs minister will visit Japan from October 21 to 25, sources reported.

According to sources, the main focus of this mission is to strengthen the bilateral relationship and also to discuss the Southwest Asian affairs. 

Further he will hold extensive discussions and exchange opinions on the current state of regional Cupertino with South Asian Association for regional Co operation [SAARC] with his Japanese counterpart Yohei Kono.

SAARC is a regional organisation, currently chaired by Sri Lanka that aims to upgrade economic and social development of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Minister Kadirgamar is supposed to seek assistance from Japan to SAARC activities, as Japan is a powerful country in the Southwest Asian region.
