‘UK should not be used as a base for supporting terrorism’ says Peter Churchill
[20 October 2000]

“ We are determined that the UK should not be used as a base for supporting terrorism overseas and the government does not accept that terrorists fell welcome in the United Kingdom or that they can act with impunity,” says Peter Churchill of the South Asian Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in a letter to Prajathanthra the Foundation for Freedom and Expression in Sri Lanka.

“ Where police investigations yield credible evidence that terrorist crimes have been committed action is taken, either under the criminal law, supported as necessary by the exciting prevention of terrorism legislation, or under Immigration Act powers,” the letter stated.
