The United National Party's Working Committee yesterday proposed a common program for a new political culture, seeking the cooperation of all parties for the establishment of independent elections, police, public services and judicial services. Colombo District MP Tyronne Fernando handed over the UNP's appeal to Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake last evening. The appeal is also to be handed over to General Secretaries of all political parties today. The UNP also called upon the creation of a legal institutional framework for a free media. UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe also briefed the Working Committee on the present talks with the Government.
