Police Headquarters has decided to increase the number of Policemen in mufti to counter LTTE suicide bombers in the city according to Police sources. The police speak out that to deploy Policemen in civil were a more efficient method to deter bombers rather than to deploy them in uniform. The suicide bomber in the Town Hall blast last Thursday was identified by plain clothes Policemen on duty in that area. Meanwhile the Police request the public to be vigilant and provide them with information of suspicious characters. Police also said that a number of attacks were foiled due to the vigilance of the alert public.
