President to direct Bindunuwewa investigations
 [30 October 2000]

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge personally took upon herself the responsibility of directing investigations on the Bindunuwewa incident. According to sources more than 60 Police personnel including Inspectors who were on duty that day have been interdicted.

President has assigned two teams to carry out the probe.

Meanwhile 13 bodies of the victims have been transported to their native places in North and East on Friday evening.
