Lanka, winners of Champion’s Trophy

Sri
Lanka won the Sharjah Coca-Cola Champion’s Trophy yesterday by 245,
beating India and becoming Champions once more.

Scoring
299, Sri Lanka won over India for a mere 54 runs in 26.3 overs, the lowest
ever score recorded in the history of cricket in Sharjah.
The
architect was, Sanath Jayasuriya, who rescued an innings that was dipping
into the doldrums, with a breathtaking 189 from just 161 balls, the second
equal highest score in the history of one-day international cricket.

Chaminda
Vaas picked off the top four batsmen before Muttiah Muralitharan took over
to spin out three others giving away only six runs in seven overs.
Muralitharan
marked a world record by taking seven wickets in 30 runs in the previous
match with India.
