The Government plans to invite expatriate intellectuals to Sri Lanka to share their knowledge. All expenses such as airfare, housing expenses and allowances would be met by the state. Professor Leslie Gunawardene, Minister of Science and Technology said, “The brain drain is an incomparable loss”. He said that apart from economic reasons the lack of appreciation for the hard work of researchers has prompted many Sri Lankans to seek employment and research opportunities overseas. The Minister also said that Sri Lankan expatriate scientists engaged in research and development could get more information at www.most.gov.lk
