Sri Lanka's Ministry of foreign affairs is to establish Institute of International Relations, in Colombo. The Institution will act as a focal point for research and discussion and serve as a forum to promote greater awareness and understanding of international issues. It will monitor global developments round the clock to make available up to date information daily to Government agencies relevant to their respective areas. The Institute will organize lecturers, seminars and workshops on issues relating to international relations, thematic lectures that focus on the foreign policies of various countries, especially relating to South Asian countries. It will be named as the Sri Lanka Institute of International Relations [SLIIR].
