Moves to stamp out child labour
[11 May 2001]

The Ministry of Justice in collaboration with the world’s largest technical programme on child labour, the International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) is conducting a series of programmes against the exploitation of children for labour.

As a part of this programme, a national action plan will be formulated to eliminate the practice of engaging children in labour.

The 1989 the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child reaffirmed the fundamental place of the family in society, recognizing that the child should be brought up in keeping with the ideals of the UN Charter; in particular peace, dignity, tolerance, freedom and equality.
