Mothers of Sri Lankan soldiers missing in action made a plea to the LTTE leadership to release their sons from LTTE custody. Protestors who gatered near Colombo's main Railway Station, carried placards saying, "Mr. Prabhakaran please release our sons." The Association of Relatives of Servicemen Missing in Action (ARSMA) commended the Norwegian Government and Erik Solheim for their efforts to initiate peace in Sri Lanka. "We hope that by achieving peace within the country our sons would be able to win their freedom from the LTTE," they said. "All who desire and hope for peace whether Sinhala, Tamil or Muslim should rise in protest against the war, unitedly, simultaniously and whole-heartedly" they added. The relatives of the missing servicemen made several unsuccessful attempts to visit their sons held by the rebels in the Wanni jungles in the north of the country.
