Hospital officials claimed that thirteen Sri Lankan Navy personnel were killed and thirty-one others wounded in a landmine blast in Thambalagamuwa close to the Eastern town of Trincomalee, Wednesday morning. The off-duty navy men were returning to their homes in a navy convoy when the attack occurred. Army sources said that the mine was hidden in a culvert. The attack took place on the main civilian route from Colombo to Trincomalee. The wounded are being treated in the Trincomalee, Kantalai and Anuradhapura Hospitals.
