“Commitment to peace has not diminished”-CBK

President Kumaratunga said yesterday she and her government are committed and will continue with the peace process.

In an interview with state television she said her government will persist with efforts to find a broad based solution to the political, social, economic and other problems of the Tamil people and also ensure the welfare of all communities.

She urged the LTTE to stop fighting and negotiate with the government to arrive at a political solution. The President said only negotiations would help arrive at a solution and bring peace with dignity to all communities.
