Military news censorship removed

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga yesterday removed with immediate effect the Emergency Regulations which imposed a censorship on military news. 

A government news release stated that, “The Emergency (Prohibition on Publication and Transmission of sensitive Military Information) Regulation No. 1 of 1998 has been lifted with immediate effect by H.E. the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.”
