June 5 is World Environment Day

“Connect with the World Wide Web of Life” is the global theme of this year’s World Environment Day. June 5 was declared as World Environment Day by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. It reflects the need to make harmonious connection between us and all life on Earth. That connection can be through modern technology, traditional means or by joining hands with other individuals and organizations. 

The UNEP OzonAction programme has organised a video competition in the run up to the thirteenth meeting of Parties of the Montreal Protocol in October this year in Colombo.

“Protect the Ozone layer” is the topic of this competition. Anyone from around the world can submit entries on Ozone themes. The deadline is August 15, 2001.
