The Leader of the Opposition Ranil Wickremesinghe has proposed the joint marketing of tea under the bilateral trade agreements signed between India and Sri Lanka. The Leader of the Opposition made this proposal during his meeting with the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalitha Jeyaram on his recent visit to India. Mr. Wickremesinghe met the Indian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in New Delhi and discussed the current situation in the North and East and the plight of Indian and Sri Lankan fisherman fishing in the Palk Straits, a release from UNP headquarters, stated.
