Sri Lanka's first all inclusive sports hotel has come up in Marawila, a fishing village in the north-western coast of Sri Lanka, a 90-minute drive from Colombo. Sri Lanka’s beaches attract thousands of tourists every year. Most of them are Europeans trading the winter in their own countries for a good suntan in Sri Lanka. Most of them favour the south-western coastal belt. Aquarius Sports Resort, a Beach Hotel managed by the Confifi Group of Hotels has a unique range of sports facilities in their indoor stadium. The resort includes a mini Astro Turf football ground and a swimming pool. The mini-football ground can host a seven-a-side Soccer tournament or a game of handball. You can even take a lesson in beach volleyball, Tennis, Water Polo, Archery or some of the traditional Sri Lankan games. The hotel, which has direct access to the beach, is situated on a five-acre property. It has 40 Standard, Suite and Bungalow rooms. “This definitely is a boon for the local athletes and the tourist industry. Since Puttalam has a lot of sports potential, this hotel is undoubtedly a bonus for our area,” said Gwen Herath, President of the Board of Control for Women's Cricket in Sri Lanka. A spokesman for the Confifi Group of Hotels said, “We expect to promote this in a big way to cater to the needs of both local and foreign customers. We have already introduced our sports packages to groups in Germany.”
