Sri Lanka to revamp snail-mail

The 200-year old Sri Lanka Postal Service is to be revamped with enhanced facilities such as telegraph service; telephones, Fax, E-mail and Internet. These enhancements will be provided to selected urban and rural agency post offices under this programme.

Sri Lanka has more than 300 Agency Post Offices scattered throughout the country. These privately owned Post Offices are expected to undergo major changes to cater to the needs of a developing Sri Lanka.
