The World Press Photo Exhibition - a result of the world's largest photography contest - is now on at the Barefoot Gallery in Colombo. The Exhibition will be open to the public till August 12. 211 prizewinning photographs are exhibited, un-censored. The majority of the pictures this year are based on displaced-people around the world. “Sri Lanka is privileged to have the exhibition since last year under the free offer from the World Press Photo Foundation for the countries that cannot afford it,” said photographer Dominic Sansoni. The Exhibition has encouraged Sri Lankan Press photographers to participate in this worldwide contest. Although only one photographer entered the contest last year, 15 photographers from Sri Lanka have participated this year. The Netherlands Embassy in Colombo and The Ceylon Brewery Ltd. have been instrumental in bringing this exhibition to Colombo.
