Rs. 16.5 million allocated for minor irrigation projects

Rs. 16.5 million has been allocated to establish and maintain minor irrigation projects within 11 Divisional Secretariat areas in Matale District in Central Sri Lanka. 

The money has been allocated by the Matale Regional Economic Advancement Project [REAP]. These minor irrigation projects have been identified in the respective Divisional Secretary areas to solve minor irrigation problems faced by farmers.

Access to water is hindering villagers in the Matale district from pursuing intensive agriculture.
