Soldiers receive land for housing

The Sri Lanka Army made its biggest offer to its personnel by handing over 547 blocks of land worth more than Rs. 16.4 million.

Army Commander Lt. Gen. Lionel Balagalle distributed 547 blocks of land, each 20 perches in extent among officers and other ranks representing all the regiments of the Sri Lanka Army.

“This was the first occasion that so many blocks of land were distributed among such a large number of personnel,” The commander of the Sri Lanka Army said.
