SAARC Foreign Secretaries to meet in Colombo
[August 7, 2001 - 13:30 GMT]

SAARC Foreign Secretaries are expected to meet in Colombo later this week for discussions on strengthening diplomatic relations among member countries.

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar will inaugurate the third special session of the Standing Committee of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) on Thursday.

The Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan are expected to make use of the opportunity for bi-lateral consultations. This would be the first high-level contact between the two countries after the Agra Summit.
