Sri Lanka - Singapore ties will continue to intensify
[August 9, 2001 - 9:15 GMT]

“As small island states with many common interests, Singapore and Sri Lanka will continue to intensify cooperation and identify areas of synergy,” said the message issued by the Singapore High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, celebrating the 36 years of nationhood day, today.

Sri Lanka was Singapore’s 40th trading partner and bilateral trade has been steadily growing since 1970’s.  Singapore expects to intensify cooperation through Singapore Cooperation Programme [SCP] in the areas of development such as medicine, port management, banking, information technology and telecommunications.

The message further stated, “These cooperation activities will ensure the renewal and enhancement of close bonds of friendship with succeeding generations well into the new millennium.”
