“I am prepared to make any sacrifice for the country”- CBK

President Kumaratunga said that she was willing to summon Parliament even before September 7 if there was a possibility of arriving at a consensus to end the constitutional crisis.

She expressed these views when she met some top business leaders in the island yesterday.

“If the UNP can come up with a common program as one whole party we are still keeping our doors open,” she reiterated.

She stressed that she was willing to make any sacrifice for the sake of the country and people.

“I am confident that you, the leaders of the private sector who have displayed a great deal of resilience in the face of several setbacks will rally round us irrespective of party colours and personal affiliations to take this country forward.”
