“India is committed to the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka and to the resolution of the ethnic conflict through political dialogue,” Indian Foreign Secretary Chokila Iyer said yesterday. She assured that India’s policy towards Sri Lanka had not shifted. Ms. Iyer who was in Colombo to participate in the SAARC Foreign Secretaries meeting reiterated India’s opposition to violence and terrorism. “India fully backed the Norwegian peace initiative,” she said replying to a question on the peace process in Sri Lanka.
