MIG 27 crashes near Negombo Lagoon

A Sri Lankan Air Force aircraft on a training mission crashed onto a house near Negombo Lagoon killing the pilot.

The crash occurred shortly before noon Saturday.

Hospital sources confirmed that seven persons were being treated for minor burns at the government hospital in Negombo.

The Ukrainian Instructor who was flying the ill-fated Mig 27 has been killed in the crash.

The house has been gutted by the fire, which followed. Three other houses in the vicinity have also been damaged.
