“I will never shirk my responsibility, but will find a political solution to the problems which have resulted in terrorism,” said President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga Monday. The President was addressing a meeting of officials of Sri Lanka’s poverty alleviation programme. Referring to the current impasse in Parliament, she said it was having a negative impact on the government, the country and the people and assured that the Government’s decision and a solution to the crisis will be announced shortly. President Kumaratunga called on Sri Lankans to set aside their political convictions and support the cause of peace and long term stability of the country.
